Asia, Pope. Arrived in the River from Bombay, experienced on the 6th inst a most severe gale from SW. Lost the Jolly Boat. (B)

The Hope, Flint. Arrived in the Downs from Madras, experienced a severe gale on the 6th inst. She made very little water, but shipped immense seas, although every precaution was taken a considerable quantity of water found its way betwixt deck, and passed into the hold, the starboard gunwale was stove in, the cuddy, bulkheads, larboard awning cabin and larboard bulwarks carried away. The weather moderated towards evening. (C)

The Lalla Rookh, Captain not stated, arrived in the Downs, touched at the Island of Ascension 7th ulto and was informed by HMS Swinger that the Maria of Liverpool was condemned as unseaworthy at St Thomas’ Africa in December. Cargo was taken out by the Authorities there. Captain Stewart had died previously. (D)

St Helena 28.12.25: The London, Phillips, arrived here bringing advice of the loss of the Hope, Sweet, of and from London to Singapore off Anger. The crew and cargo saved.

The Nassau, Carrs, from Sydney, New South Wales on 9.6.25 for London. Having experienced strong gales she began to make water on the 14th August and on 23rd in Lat 36°S Lon 23°W it was found requisite to lighten her by throwing part of her cargo overboard. On the 29th made the SW side of the Island of Tristan d’A-cunha with 5ft of water in her hold and the leaking increasing. She was run ashore the next day to save the lives of the people and she went to pieces on the 31st. The whole of the crew got safe on shore. The captain, Mr Casper a passenger and eleven of the crew were taken off the Island on 3rd December by the Fairlie, Short, from London to Madras.

St Helena 28.1.26, the Brig Mary, King, ran on shore at Port Natal to the eastward of the Cape of Good Hope 1st October, crew saved.

Harwich 30th March, the Lavinia, Brooks, from Shields to St Helena has this day been assisted in here by a Smack with the loss of bowspit foremast and having come in contact with a Collier yesterday morning off the Spurn Lights. (F)

Vessels spoken with by the Bombay, Charitie, arrived of the Wight, Roxburgh Castle, Denny, China to Quebec on 4th February in the Straits of Sunda, Concordia, Willems, from Batavia on 24th March Lat 33°S Lon 31°E with loss of bowspit, foremast and maintopmast during a heavy gale between Mauritius and Madagascar on 23rd February was going into Cape for repair. Duke of York, Locke, from China and St Helena 2nd ulto Lat 6°N Lon 26°. (P)

Under Cape of Good Hope arrivals states the Concordia, Willems, arrived here 3rd April with loss of foremast, bowspit, 2 topmasts, yards, sails, rigging etc and about 140 bags of coffee thrown overboard. (AA)

The Nautilus, Tripe, bound for Mauritius is reported to have been lost at the Cape of Good Hope about 1st June. (S)

Cape of Good Hope 10.6.26. On the 6th inst a heavy gale from NW was experienced which occasioned some damage to several vessels in Table Bay. These included the Nautilus, Tripe, which was driven on shore, but will be got off and repaired. (T)

The Neptune, Cumberlege, arrived in the Downs, put into Simons Bay 24th July after being detained off the Cape of Good Hope for 31 days during which she experienced seven severe gales from the NW. On 25th ulto encountered a Northerly gale and on 28th another resembling a hurricane from SE toNW.(Y)

The Earl of Egremont, Johnson, arrived at Falmouth from the Cape of Good Hope, was brought to, the 10th ulto in Lat 36° Lon 41° by a Piratical Schooner of about 90 tons, coppered American built, no head or galleries, painted with narrow yellow side ports and a red streak underneath - mounted one large brass carriage gun amidships, and the crew were armed with large sabres and a knife in their girdle. When the Schooner left the Earl of Egremont, she went in chase of a vessel in sight. (Z)

St Helena 24.9.26. The Schooner Woodburne from London was wrecked in Table Bay, Cape of Good Hope during a gale early this month. She had been only anchored four hours. Crew saved.
