What's new?
This website is new, as of 12 April 2026. Or rather we have updated the look of the old WASC website and taken the opportunity to change the website navigation. All the old content is still here, but you may need to search to find particular items. We have started making some resources 'members-only', as indicated by !WASC members only. Access requires a password - details have been emailed to all members recently.
In the list below items are briefly described, with a link to the relevant site page giving more information and linking to the material.
New resources added since 1.6.26 include:
- Nigeria post office lists for 1988, 2003 and 2020
- List of displays given at the 2026 WASC Salisbury meeting, with links where available
- Military forces in Nigeria 1862 to 1913 is a 16 page article by John Sacher
- Kamerun 1914-16 is a 42 page book, written in 1916 by Oskar Meyer
- Togo Overprints on Stamps of the Gold Coast 1915 - 1920 by Peter Duggan 2005 146pp now avaliable as free download
- 49 Gold Coast annual report .pdfs have been added covering most years from 1895 to 1954
- WW1 reports from the National Archives on the operation of mail and cable censorship 1914-1919
- Articles and a recent update on Nigerian machine cancels by Paul Redhead
- The Autumn 2026 edition of ABPS news
- 33 page monograph on The Postmarks of Southern Nigeria written by Ray Harris in 1981
- WASC Monograph by Jack Ince 1992 on Nigerian TPOs and Mobile Offices to 1960
- Peter Wingent has made a 2nd edition of his invaluable Movements of Aircraft on Imperial Airways' African Route 1931 to 1940 available as a free download
- A major WASC initiative, the Nigeria Postcard Project, which aims to catalogue and provide images of Nigerian postcards, is now underway. Visit the Project page to download the first version of the catalogue.
- Displays given at the WASC Members' Zoom meeting of 19.9.26
- Majed Halawi has published electronic versions of 'Echoes of Empire' on the philatelic legacy of Sierra Leone. Visit https://echoesofempire.uk to download free copies of this essential reference work
